The Engineering and Computational Sciences Building is a four-story building that accommodates the primary academic programs and support services associated with Old Dominion University’s initiatives in computational sciences and engineering. This facility brings together previously geographically dispersed departments and services, creating important new laboratory and support spaces. The facility also allows the university to perform project demonstrations that showcase the students’ and faculty’s work.
Early in the design process, this project was identified as a prime candidate for improved environmental and economic performance using established or advanced industry
principles, practices, materials, and standards promoted by the U.S. Green Building Council. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) “Green Building Rating System” version 2.1 was used as a guide for sustainable design.
