For the right candidate, this project manager with possible principal level opportunity, will require a licensed architect with 10+ years of design and project management experience in the Department of Defense and military construction project market and must posses excellent listening, verbal, collaborative, written communication and teaming skills. Candidate must be comfortable in leading the firm’s marketing and business development efforts as we seek to actively re-enter the military construction market and successfully establish and maintain relationships in this particular industry. LEED accreditation is a plus. Additional responsibilities will include establishing project scope, schedule, and budget in addition to monitoring production schedules, assisting in design, production and construction administration matters, as well as negotiating contracts, drafting owner-architect agreements and ensuring quality designs that meet client expectations. The ability to work well in a fast paced challenging environment is necessary. Candidate may choose to join our firm at either our Richmond or Virginia Beach office locations or join us in North Carolina at either our Charlotte or Raleigh locations.
The ideal candidate will have 7 + years of experience independently writing specifications for the architectural profession and the construction industry for large institutional and government projects, including both new buildings and complex renovations. A licensed architect and CSI certification are preferred. LEED accreditation is a plus. Candidate will be responsible for writing, editing and coordinating architectural specifications and related documents, including MasterFormat 2004 specifications. Knowledge of technical specifications/preparation, and skills in software applications including Word, MasterWorks, and Excel, as well as AIA MasterSpec and other related software required. The ability to work well in a fast paced, challenging work environment is necessary.
Candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience in architectural drafting and be proficient with AutoCAD.
Architectural Design Technical Degree preferred with a Minimum 2 years experience with Architectural Design.
Minimum of 10 years commercial/institutional experience. Projects include K-12 schools, higher education facilities, government administration facilities, judicial centers, correctional facilities, public safety facilities, and others. Proficiency in AutoCAD and the desire to work as part of a project team a must. We are committed to high performance design and LEED Accredited Professionals are strongly encouraged to apply. Good written and verbal communication skills are required. Experienced designers with no college education will be considered. A four year degree and/or professional license are preferred.
