Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia
Goode Theatre is located at the north end of the University Village and adds approximately 22,050 gross square feet of academic theatre space. The building features a two-story story pre-event lobby, a 150-seat flexible black box theatre, a sound stage, shop space, dressing rooms, a wardrobe room and, administrative offices. The building is situated in such a way as to preserve much of the remaining site to the north for future additions to the Health Sciences Building. The building fronts Monarch Way with an expansive section of clear, glazed window wall, which provides views into the lobby, coordinates with neighboring retailers, and at night transforms into a billboard for current shows. The exterior takes cues from its urban surroundings and is contextually appropriate in its massing, setback, materials, and prominence.
