Chemistry Building
Old Dominion University

Old Dominion University
Norfolk, Virginia

In collaboration with Smith Group, we designed a new sciences building for the departments of chemistry and biochemistry and biology at Old Dominion University. The Chemistry Building aligns with several university goals. These include enhancing the university’s academic and research excellence, and supporting student success. The building creates a community of learning with easily accessible teaching labs, state-of-the-art research labs, a tutoring center, and ample informal learning space. The design integrates technology to enhance learning and research in laboratories, as well as productivity in faculty offices, and departmental administrative and technical support areas. It earned LEED Gold certification in 2022.
