Radford University and Moseley Architects partnered to design Hemphill Hall, which accommodates 122 full-time faculty of the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences and serves nearly 2,400 students. The new facility provides 10 departments with abundant academic space including laboratories, research centers, an academic advising center, a moot courtroom, studios for television and online broadcasting, and an emergency management center that can also serve as a real-life emergency response coordination point. These and other hands-on academic facilities were designed to help students succeed outside the classroom. Our team designed the exterior to mirror the campus’s Georgian architecture style while also relating to a more progressive aesthetic. The facility earned LEED Gold certification in 2017.
