Thornton YMCA Aquatic Center was developed through a partnership between the YMCA of Greater Richmond and Henrico County for a new 21,000-square-foot indoor aquatics center. For 25 years, the YMCA has partnered with area school systems to provide water safety and basic swimming techniques to second graders. The new facility focuses on supporting this Learn to Swim program and providing the community with access to swim lessons, wellness programs, and family events. The aquatics center also hosts swim practices and meets for Henrico County’s high school swim teams. The aquatics center offers an eight-lane, 25-yard competition pool and an instructional pool with zero-depth entry for easy access. The center also features an activity zone with a slide and family activity area. Family-friendly locker rooms and full locker rooms surround the pool areas.
