Moseley Architects collaborated with Loudoun County Public Schools’ to design a new elementary school prototype that improved the collaborative, 21st learning environment. The 105,757-square-foot facility is designed for 960 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The exterior has a modernized facade, additional glass to increase transparency for interior security, and an identifiable, welcoming entrance. Other prototype advancements include flipping the gymnasium and the multipurpose room for easier access to recreational fields. The corridor between the multipurpose room and the gymnasium is wider to ease student congestion.

Additional features include classrooms organized into groups along extended corridors. The art classroom, at the heart of the facility, is easily accessible from all classrooms and provides an activity patio onto a courtyard. The main entrance lobby is a two-story space with skylights to introduce daylight. The multipurpose room can accommodate large group events with a platform stage, as well as indoor physical education activities.
