Integrated Science Center
College of William and Mary

College of William and Mary
Williamsburg, Virginia

Adopting the campus’s new architectural guidelines, the Integrated Science Center’s façade is consistent with the design principles of the “old” campus. Due to programmatic changes in the college’s biology and psychology programs, the design focused on reorganizing and renovating existing academic spaces while also creating additional laboratory space. The result is more than 97,000 square feet of new classrooms, laboratories, and offices for the psychology, chemistry, and biology departments. In addition to providing teaching facilities, the new building features extensive new and upgraded research space for expanded undergraduate and graduate programs. The labs are supported by a 1,200-square-foot electron microscope suite, a 1,000-square-foot nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) suite, and a 9,000-square-foot vivarium.
