Van Wyck Elementary School accommodates 1,170 students in an E-shaped prototype design. The main corridor of the facility has high clearstory windows to allow natural light into the corridor. Light reflects off sloped ceiling panels onto a vibrant wall that houses the entrances to the support spaces. This irregular ceiling and vibrant wall plays off a solid wall to allow for greater enhancement of the corridor. Classrooms are arranged into three wings, containing classrooms for two to three grade levels, smaller resource classrooms, a teacher workroom with staff toilets, and student group toilets.
