Richland School District Two
Blythewood, South Carolina

In response to a continuing population increase, Richland School District Two needed to expand the capacity of Blythewood High School from 1,600 students to 2,000. The addition of a fifth two-story “house” of approximately 40,000 square feet repeats the rhythm of the existing houses along the axial spine. This new structure features general classrooms and a state-of-the-art ROTC suite. On the other end of the building, a large multi-purpose room complements the fine arts program and provides a truly flexible space for curriculum delivery and after-hours events. The building construction and agricultural technology programs each received new and larger spaces as well. The existing, undersized weight room was replaced with a larger weight room and training room.
