Having originally designed the building in 1989, Moseley Architects was uniquely qualified for the renovation of the Cross Creek Community Building in the Charlestown senior living community. The existing lobby, common area, office suite, and the Shortline Cafe received new flooring, wall finishes, art, and furniture. An existing convenience store was converted into flexible fitness space, reflecting the changing attitudes of current residents. A new palette of light and calming colors compliment the original wood trim and foster a connection with the outdoors. Millwork and resin panels separate the lobby and multi-purpose space, but allow for light transmission throughout. Lighting design and diversity in seating options improved the feel and flow of the voluminous space. Construction was phased for residents’ comfort.
