After examining Pickens County’s conditions and concerns in a needs assessment, Moseley Architects provided architectural and engineering services for their 363-bed jail facility. Core functions include a vehicular sallyport sized for buses, intake and booking areas with holding cells, an officers’ station, dress/shower facilities, and property issue and storage. The administrative area houses records, toilets, lockers, and conference spaces. A video visitation room adjacent to the public lobby allows visitors to see and speak with inmates safely. Inmate housing areas comprise prefabricated steel cells, dayrooms, fresh air recreation spaces, multipurpose rooms, a video arraignment space, showers, utility areas, control rooms, and a medical area.
